Many heavy duty stain removers, where effective, are not good for our environment. Lemons are great stain removers! Yes, those inexpensive yellow pieces of fruit we often use for decoration. Remember though, they have a bleaching action so when using with clothing be sure to work quickly and then rinse and wash clothing immediately.
Here are 5 ways lemons can help remove stains:
- Do you love berries but hate the stains on your hands? Rub a little lemon juice and watch them wash away..
- Olive oil stains can be removed by gently rubbing a few drops of lemon into them. Be sure to wash clothing immediately.
- Think your whites are ruined with tough coffee or wine stains? Spray with lemon and hang in sunlight to bleach the stain away.
- Eradicate stains on a cutting board by cutting a lemon in half, dipping it in table salt, and rubbing it over the stained area.
- Pit stains? Scrub with a solution of equal parts lemon juice and water.
